This song was first recorded in 2014 but I didn't like the arrangement, mix or master. So I reworked it and am making the improved version available.

It was written during a cold, dark Mid Western winter when I was dreaming about summer vacations, our house in Florida, and warmer weather.

Greens turn to gold
turn to brown turn to black

And leaves leave the tree
to stand naked, alone on the hill
To wonder if it has the will
To hold up the sky under wintry nights
When the warmth of the sun
is a miserable dream of light

Where we search in the hope we may find
A place in this darkness unkind
A place where our hopes may reside
Inside when the world outside has died…

Waving goodbye to a season
scattered by the winds
And the days grow haggard and thin
And the sun is no warmer than the moon
But spring must surely come soon
To turn back the bitterly cold nights
And the warmth of the summer’s
a brilliant dream of light
